These sessions empower participants with knowledge about how exercise can alleviate symptoms, current treatment options, and coping mechanisms for day-to-day challenges. Understanding these aspects helps participants make informed decisions about their health, fosters a proactive approach to managing osteoarthritis, and enhances the effectiveness of the physical exercises they perform during the program.
Yes, the GLA:D Program can help slow the progression of osteoarthritis. By engaging in regular, targeted exercises and implementing the self-management strategies learned in the education classes, participants can reduce the strain on their joints and improve overall joint function. This proactive approach not only alleviates current symptoms but also helps maintain joint health, potentially delaying the progression of osteoarthritis. Staying active and informed are key components in managing osteoarthritis effectively, and the GLA:D Program provides the tools to achieve this.
