DIRECT BILLING AVAILABLE FOR ALL OUR PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICES

Extended Health Benefits

We are delighted to direct bill your extended health care insurance for your physiotherapy treatments! Most extended health benefits do cover physical therapy, however everyone’s plan is different. Typically you do not require a doctor’s referral for coverage. You may want to contact your extended health care plan directly to determine how much physical therapy coverage is available to you and if they require a doctors referral. If your plan is not listed, please call us at either our South Edmonton Physiotherapy clinic or Stony Plain Physiotherapy clinic as we are always adding new insurance plans! We will gladly assist in direct billing if we are able to.

WCB

If you have been injured at work, the Workers Compensation Board of Alberta (WCB) will cover the costs of physiotherapy you need as a result of your workplace injury or illness.

Here is what you should do to start the process:

Step 1: Report the injury to your employer
Step 2: Report the injury to WCB (employers are required to report your injury to WCB as well) https://www.wcb.ab.ca/claims/report-an-injury/for-workers.html
Step 3: Come for a physical therapy assessment as soon as possible. Your physiotherapist will assess the nature and extent of your injury and provide a report to WCB.
No doctor’s referral is needed to attend physiotherapy following your workplace injury. You also do not need a claim number to attend a physiotherapy assessment.

Just give us a call at our Edmonton or Stony Plain physiotherapy clinics and we can get you booked in!

Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance

In Alberta, if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), regardless of who was at fault, you are entitled to physiotherapy treatments to assist in your recovery after the accident. The benefits you receive are based on the extent of your injuries.

Here is what you should do to start the process:

Step 1: Complete an AB-1 form that details the nature of the accident and submit it to your car insurance company as soon as you can. We can have you complete the forms once you arrive at the clinic for your physiotherapy assessment, or you can find the AB-1 form online here.

Step 2: See a physiotherapist within 10 business days of the accident. Your physiotherapist will diagnose your injuries in accordance with the Diagnostic Treatment “Protocols”. The majority of MVA injuries qualify for 10-21 treatments within 90 days of the accident. These can be billed directly to your car insurance company.

If your injury does not fall under the typical injuries sustained in a car accident, such as a fracture or neurological injuries, you would qualify for “Out of Protocol” treatments. If this is the case, costs for physiotherapy treatments are billed to your extended health care plan first as per Alberta Automobile Insurance Benefits regulations. Any portion of treatment that is not covered by your extended health care plan can then be submitted to your car insurance company for reimbursement. Typically we can direct bill both your extended health benefits as well as your automobile insurance company.

We are a preferred provider for TD Insurance, the Co-operators Insurance as well as Travelers Insurance. So give us a call at either our South Edmonton Physiotherapy clinic or Stony Plain Physiotherapy Clinic to book in today!

The staff at Boost Physiotherapy will be happy to guide you through the billing process so you can spend more time getting better and less time figuring out this whole process.
